  1. The table entries are species counts, where narrow indicates species with range extent <20×103 km2 and endemic are those species with records only in Panama. Each column is a count of species in a category of N, for example those with just one record (N=1) or with 5-9 records (N[5,9]). The top four rows comprise exhaustive and mutually exclusive categories; they add up to the total number of species, 3043. The bottom two rows give all narrow and endemic species, which are overlapping categories
