Simulation results for jack pine. Without plasticity, much of the assimilation variability is due to the spatial structure of tree locations. Plasticity reduces the effect of tree coordinates, so that the variability is largely explained by tree height. Curves are the tessellation (α) assimilation PPA. It is seen that the approximation is satisfactory in that case, but clearly it is not appropriate for α=1.
