Spread mechanisms of the Siberian moth. 1) Moth-carrying wooden materials are transported from border stations (E) to places where human population density is high (P). 2) Adult moths seek suitable host trees and some of them find one (H). 3) Some of these insects mate and produce off-spring (shaded host trees), which spread to host trees in surrounding locations.
